Seems like now-a-days they carry just about anything on that there railroad. Why
just the other day I saw one of them there donkey steam engines up on the back of a
big ol' flat car. Just can't figure out how they got the darn thing up there. I'll
bet before long they'll be shippin in all sorts of fancy new things from out of state.
They might even ship me a new car when ol' Lizy can't make it any further. If'n they
can, I think I'll get me one with a rumble seat this time.

Yup, I seen it the other day. They went and put sides on one of them there flat cars
and they call it a gondola. Why they can carry all sorts of loose stuff on the railroad
now. I saw them loaded with rocks and gravel that was dug out from way up in Golfer's
Gulch. I think ol' Jake is trying to make some extra money off that worthless piece of
land he's got up there. With that there new gondola they can carry just about anything.
Wouldn't put it past them to load it up with cow manure and take it all the way over
to Buckham County to fertilize all those new growin farms. Can you imagine havin a farm
that don't have no horses to pull the plow, just them new gasoline tractors. Them
tractors don't produce any fertilizer.

Okay, now I've seen it all! - a box car with ice in it to keep what ever their
a-carryin cold until it arrives at the other end. They call it a refridgerator car.
Don't think they planned very far ahead though. Where they gonna get that much ice when it tuns
August and its hotter than all blazes? Ol' Charlie sometimes has ice down at the Bait &
Tackle but certainly not that much. Maybe some things do need to be kept cold, but I sure
hope no hobos sneak a right in that one. By the time they get to Hayward junction they'd
be frozen like a popcicle.
