Auction Policies and Procedures

In order to continue to offer the best possible antiques and collectibles on auction at The eBay World Auction I have established some standard policies and procedures which I would like to explain to you so that you will know what to expect when you are the successful bidder on one of my auctions.

I want to also advise you that I have automated much of the communication process in posting and follow through on the auction transaction. Most eMails will be business-like and to the point. I don't mean this to be rude in any way. It helps me to be efficient. I am happy at any time to strike up a personal conversation and my overall desire is to be friendly and provide you with service.

Auction Procedures

The majority of my auctions will include a photo of the item and as thorough a description as possible. Sometimes I do not describe the item as complete and as thorough as you would like and I encourage you to ask me any questions before bidding or anytime during the auction. You are even welcome to ask questions after the auction is over.

When you are the successful bidder on one of our auctions here is what you can expect to happen:

This procedure usually runs smoothly without any hitches, but sometimes I do make errors. It is possible that an item may slip through the proverbial "crack" and we have problems. It is my desire to minimize problems and correct them as quickly as possible. If you encounter any problems, please send me an eMail and let me know. I will respond as quickly as possible.

Shipping & Handling

I have established the policy that most all auction items will be shipped via Insured Priority Mail with the U.S. Post Office. I recognize that there are special circumstances where this is not economical, such as heavy items and shipments outside the United States, and I will make exceptions in these cases.

Insurance in the amount of the winning bid is Optional on all shipments. Please be advised that while I take every effort to pack each item carefully, if you elect not to insure the shipment, I will not be responsible for its safe arrival whether damaged or missing, regardless of how you or the Post Office think it was packed. If you want to protect your investment, INSURE IT!

I have also calculated a handling fee which is included in the S&H&I which is quoted to you. This fee helps to take care of the packing materials, time required to package and other associated costs. This enables me to continue to offer quality Antiques and Collectibles at reasonable starting bids on eBay. I do not make any profit on the S&H&I fees.

Priority Mail rates to any where in the United States are:

Insurance rates are:

If you are interested in checking what U.S.Postal rates are, check in with the Post Office at http://www.usps.com/. My zip code is 06019.

Returns

Even though I have provided a picture and a thorough description of the auction item and you have had opportunity to ask any questions before bidding I recognize that sometimes the item purchased is not exactly what you thought it was. I do take returns, but it is necessary to charge a 15% restocking fee for returned items. If you feel you need to return an item, please eMail me and get permission so that I know that it's coming. Upon receipt of the returned item I will refund the eBay bid price less 15%. I will not be able to refund the S&H&I costs as they will have already been spent.

Damaged or Lost Shipments

Sometimes a shipment will get damaged or lost by the U.S. Post Office. My experience so far is that 0.05% of all shipments have damage and I have only had one package to date get lost. When this happens the procedure required by the U.S. Post Office is:

Damaged Shipment

Lost Shipment

On average, this take approximately 30 days once the form has been completed and sent to the Insurance Department.

Feedback

I have established the policy of only posting Positive Feedback for my buyers from eBay. If my experience is neutral or negative I don't plan to post any Feedback. An exception to the rules is, of course, if a buyer cheats me in some manner and it would be beneficial for all sellers on eBay to be aware of this, I will post Negative Feedback and also explain the problem on the Registered Users
Bulletin Board.

Please feel free to post any Feedback for me, either Positive, Neutral, or Negative as you see fit. I thank you for Positive Feedback and I would like to resolve any problems which would cause you to post Negative Feedback. EBay is a way to have fun. I will not cheat anyone.
